Done-For-You Social Media Management: What It Should Include

Done-for-you social media management sounds simple. You pay someone, and your social media gets handled. But ask five agencies what that means and you’ll get five different answers.

Some will post three graphics a week and send you a report. Others will film, edit, caption, and post video for you every month. Both call it done-for-you. Only one of them actually takes the work off your plate.

I run done-for-you social for businesses across Windsor-Essex, and here’s my rule: if you’re still doing most of the work, it isn’t done for you. So here’s what it should include, what to expect each month, and the red flags to watch for before you sign anything.

What Done-For-You Social Media Management Should Include

A Plan Built Around Your Customers

Good content starts with knowing who you’re talking to. Before anything gets filmed, your team should understand who buys from you, what they ask, and what makes them hesitate. If nobody asks about your customers, they’re guessing.

Content That’s Actually Made for You

This is the big one. Done-for-you means someone creates the content, not just schedules whatever you send them. For us, that’s video. We record with you, either in our studio space or on location, and you leave with weeks of material from one session.

Editing, Captions and Thumbnails

Raw footage isn’t content. Every video should come back edited, captioned, and ready to post on each platform. You should never have to open an editing app.

Posting on a Real Schedule

Here’s where a lot of providers stop short. They hand you a folder of finished videos and wish you luck. Then the folder sits there. Real done-for-you means they post it, on a schedule, across the platforms that matter for your business.

A Regular Check-In

You should know what’s going out and why. A quick monthly check-in keeps the content pointed at your goals instead of drifting toward whatever’s easiest to make.

What Done-For-You Social Media Management Takes Off Your Plate

If you’re paying for done-for-you, these should all be off your plate:

  • Coming up with topics from scratch every week.
  • Setting up lights, cameras, or microphones.
  • Editing, adding captions, or designing thumbnails.
  • Writing post copy and scheduling it on every platform.
  • Remembering to post at all.

So what’s left for you? Showing up to record, answering a few questions, and giving honest feedback. That’s it. Nobody else can be you on camera, and frankly, that’s the part that makes it work.

What a Month of Done-For-You Social Media Management Looks Like

Here’s roughly how a month runs with us.

First, we plan. We pull topics from your customers’ questions, your opinions, and what’s coming up in your business. Then we record, usually in one session that runs two to six hours depending on your plan. After that, our team edits, captions, and builds thumbnails. Finally, the videos go out on a set schedule, anywhere from three days a week to multiple posts a day, across the platforms you’re on.

You can see exactly what each level includes on our Monthly Plans page.

Done-For-You Social Media Management Red Flags

They Never Ask About Your Customers

If the sales conversation is all about follower counts and none of it is about the people who buy from you, the content will be generic. Generic content gets scrolled past.

They Promise Followers or Going Viral

Nobody can promise viral. Anyone who does is selling you a feeling. What a good team can promise is consistency, quality, and a plan.

You’re Still Making the Content

If you’re expected to film your own videos, write your own captions, or send them material every week, you’re paying for scheduling, not management.

The Reports Only Show Vanity Numbers

Likes and impressions are fine to know. But a good team also talks about what matters to you: inquiries, conversations, and the people who tell you they saw you online.

Nobody Tells You Who Handles Comments

Ask directly who replies to comments and messages. Some teams do it, and some leave it with you. Either can work, as long as you know before you sign.

Is Done-For-You Social Media Management Worth It?

Honestly, it depends on what your time is worth and how long you’ve been meaning to post more. If social media has been on your to-do list for a year and it still isn’t happening, that’s your answer. The cost of being invisible never shows up on an invoice, but it’s real.

On the other hand, if you enjoy making content and have the time to post it, you might only need help with part of the job, like a batch session a few times a year. Our Batch Sessions page covers that option.

Frequently Asked Questions About Done-For-You Social Media Management

How much does done-for-you social media management cost?

At All In Content, plans start at $1,800 a month plus HST. That includes a monthly two-hour recording session, 15 edited videos, and posting three days a week. Larger plans add longer sessions, more videos, and more platforms.

How much of my time does it take?

Plan on one recording session a month plus a little time for feedback. Most clients spend far less time than they did trying to do it all themselves.

Do I have to be on camera?

It works best when you are. People buy from people, and nobody explains your business like you do. If you’re nervous, we coach you through every take.

How long before I see results?

Consistency starts right away, since your first content usually goes out within a week or two. Real momentum, like customers mentioning your videos, builds over a few months of steady posting. That’s why we recommend thinking in years, not weeks.
